Hardware is the physical parts of a computer.
The CPU (central processing unit) carries out instructions. RAM is temporary memory that loses data when powered off (volatile); ROM keeps data permanently (non-volatile). Input devices (keyboard) and output devices (monitor) let us interact with it.
