Days of the week
There are 7 days in one week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After Sunday, we start again at Monday.
Key idea
1 week = 7 days. 1 year = 12 months.
Months of the year
There are 12 months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. January is first; December is last.
Worked example
Today is Monday. What day comes next?
After Monday comes Tuesday.
The first month of the year is January, and the month after it is February.
We use days and months to know when things happen, like our birthday or the first day of school.
Remember
- The days go in order and repeat every week.
- The months go in order from January to December.
- Say them out loud to remember the order.
