Chapter 6

Measurement

Measuring and comparing length, mass and volume, and the units we use (cm, m, kg, L) — with an interactive exercise.

We measure and compare length, mass and volume.

Length

We measure length in centimetres (cm) and metres (m). Remember: 100 cm = 1 m. A longer object has a bigger measurement.

Mass and volume

Mass (how heavy) is measured in kilograms (kg); the volume of a liquid is measured in litres (L).

Remember

  • 100 cm = 1 m.
  • Length: cm/m · Mass: kg · Volume of liquid: L.
