How many?
Quantity means how many things there are. We look at a group and count each one.
Key idea
More = the bigger group. Less (fewer) = the smaller group. Same = equal number.
Compare by counting
To see who has more, count both groups. The bigger number is more.
Worked example
Ali has 3 pencils. Sara has 5 pencils. Count: 3 and 5. 5 is bigger than 3, so Sara has more.
Remember
- Count one by one, do not skip.
- A fuller basket has more.
- Equal number means the same.
