Living and non-living
Around us there are living things and non-living things. It is fun to tell them apart!
Key idea
Living things can grow, move, eat and have babies. Non-living things cannot do these.
Living things
People, animals and plants are living things. A dog, a cat and a tree are all living.
Non-living things
A rock, a chair and a toy are non-living things. They do not grow or eat.
Example
A cat is living. It can run, eat and grow. A stone is non-living. It just stays still.
