Volume of liquid
Volume of liquid tells us how much drink is in a cup or bottle. We use litres (l) for a lot and millilitres (ml) for a little.
Key idea / 要点
1 l = 1000 ml. A big water bottle holds about 1 l. A small cup holds about 200 ml.
Adding and comparing
A jug with 3 l has more water than a jug with 1 l, because 3 is more than 1. When we pour liquids together we add them, and when we pour some out we take it away. Always keep the same unit.
Worked example / 例题
A bottle has 2 l of juice. Mum pours in 3 l more. How much juice is there now?
Add: 2 + 3 = 5. There is now 5 l of juice.

- Use ml for small amounts, l for big amounts.
- 1 l = 1000 ml.
