Air is all around us
Air is everywhere, all around us. We cannot see air, but we can feel it when the wind blows. Air has no colour and no shape. Wind is moving air.
Key idea
Air is a basic need. People, animals and plants all need air to live.
We breathe air
We breathe air in and out to live. Animals and plants need air too. Air can fill up a balloon when we blow into it, and the balloon gets bigger. A fan pushes air to make us feel cool on a hot day. Clean air is good for our body, so we should keep our air fresh and free from smoke.
Example
Blow into a balloon and it gets bigger. The balloon is now full of air.
Remember
- Air is all around us.
- We cannot see air.
- Living things need air.
- Moving air is called wind.
