We all grow up
When you were born, you were a small baby. Now you are a child in school. As you grow, your body gets taller and stronger. Growing up takes many years and happens in stages.
The five stages
People grow in this order:
- Baby — very small, drinks milk, cannot walk.
- Child — can walk, talk, run and go to school.
- Teenager — taller and older, in secondary school.
- Adult — fully grown, may go to work.
- Old person — hair turns grey, moves more slowly.
Key idea
The stages of human growth are: baby → child → teenager → adult → old person.
Changes as we grow
As we grow from one stage to the next, we become taller, our teeth change, and we can do more things by ourselves. A baby needs help to eat, but a child can eat alone. Growing up is natural and happens to everyone.
