Buying many of the same thing
When you buy several of the same item, multiply the price by how many you buy. Multiplying is a quick way to add the same amount many times.
Key idea
Total = price of one × number of items. Keep the same number of sen in your answer (2 places after the point).
Worked example
Worked example
One pencil costs RM2.50. How much do 3 pencils cost?
RM2.50 × 3 = RM7.50 (because 2.50 + 2.50 + 2.50 = 7.50).
Answer: RM7.50.
Sen too
You can multiply sen: 50 sen × 6 = 300 sen = RM3.00.
Remember
- Total = one price × how many.
- 100 sen = RM1.
