New Plants
Plants make new plants of their own kind. This is called reproduction. Plants can reproduce in different ways.
Ways Plants Reproduce
- Seeds — Many plants grow flowers that make seeds. When a seed lands on wet soil, it grows into a new plant. Examples: rambutan, maize and sunflower.
- Spores — Ferns and mushrooms do not make seeds. They make tiny dust-like spores that grow into new plants.
- Parts of the plant — Some plants grow from a part of the parent plant. A new banana plant grows from a sucker, and a new tapioca plant grows from a piece of stem.
