What Is Volume?
The volume of a liquid is the amount of space it takes up. We measure volume in millilitres (mL). One millilitre is the same as one cubic centimetre (cm³), so 1 mL = 1 cm³.
Using a Measuring Cylinder
We use a measuring cylinder to measure the volume of a liquid. Pour the liquid in carefully. Put the cylinder on a flat table and read it at eye level. The top of the liquid makes a small curve called the meniscus. Read the volume at the bottom of the curve.
