What are science process skills?
Science process skills are the ways we think and work like a scientist. We use them to find out about things around us. You use some of them every day without knowing!
The main skills
- Observe — use your senses to look, listen, touch, smell and taste safely.
- Classify — group things that are the same in some way.
- Measure — find out how big, long, heavy or hot something is.
- Predict, compare and record what you find.
Key idea
We observe with our senses, classify by grouping, and measure to get numbers. These skills help us learn safely.
Example
You see red apples and green apples. You observe the colour, then classify them into two groups: red and green.
