Ways to pay
A payment instrument is a tool we use to pay for things. There are many kinds, and each is useful in a different way.
Key idea / 要点
Coins and notes are cash. Cards, cheques and e-wallets let us pay without carrying much cash.
Common instruments
- Cash — coins and banknotes.
- Debit card — pays straight from your bank account.
- E-wallet — an app on a phone; pay by scanning a QR code.
- Cheque — a written paper order to pay from a bank account.
Worked example / 例题
You pay RM100 cash for an item that costs RM85.
Change = RM100 − RM85 = RM15.
