What is design?
Design is planning how to make something before we build it. A good design solves a problem and is useful, safe and nice to look at. Designers draw a sketch to show their ideas on paper first.
The design process
We follow the design process step by step so our product turns out well:
- Identify the problem — what do people need?
- Gather ideas — think of many ways to solve it.
- Design — draw a sketch of your best idea.
- Make — build the product.
- Test — check if it works.
- Improve — make it better.

Example
Ravi needs a stand to hold his phone. He sketches a few ideas, chooses the best one, builds it from cardboard, tests it and then adds a stronger base to improve it.
