Who was Tun Perak?
Tun Perak was the most famous Bendahara of the Melaka Sultanate. A Bendahara was the chief minister of Melaka, a little like a prime minister today. He gave advice to the Sultan and helped run the kingdom.
A very wise leader
Tun Perak served four sultans of Melaka. He is remembered most for his wisdom. Instead of solving every problem by fighting, he thought carefully and made clever plans. When the kingdom of Siam attacked Melaka, Tun Perak led the people bravely and protected their home.
Because of his wise leadership, Melaka grew into a strong and rich trading kingdom. Many traders came to buy and sell goods safely.
