Hang Tuah's important role
As the Laksamana (admiral) of Melaka, Hang Tuah had a very important job. He was the leader of the Sultan's warriors and helped keep the whole kingdom safe.
What did he do?
- Protected the Sultan and the palace from danger.
- Defended Melaka from enemies who tried to attack.
- Led the warriors and the fighting men of Melaka.
- Went on missions abroad as the Sultan's trusted envoy, travelling to faraway kingdoms.
On his missions, Hang Tuah carried the Sultan's messages and made friends for Melaka in other lands. Because he did his duties so well, Melaka stayed strong, safe and respected by other kingdoms. The Sultan trusted him completely, and the people felt proud to have such a brave leader.
Today, Hang Tuah is remembered as one of the greatest heroes in the story of Melaka.
