Resting by the river
One day Parameswara stopped to rest near the Bertam River. He went out hunting with his men and his hunting dog.
Suddenly the dog chased a small mouse deer. Instead of running away, the tiny mouse deer turned and bravely kicked the dog into the water!
A lucky sign
Parameswara was amazed by the courage of such a small animal. He believed it was a good sign (omen) that this was a lucky and brave place. He decided to build his kingdom right there. This happened around the year 1400.
