Chapter 2

Fractions, Decimals and Percentages

Converting between fractions, decimals and percentages — the same value written three ways — including × 100 and ÷ 100, with an interactive exercise.

We convert between fractions, decimals and percentages — three ways to write the same value.

For example, $\tfrac{3}{4} = 0.75 = 75\%$. To turn a decimal into a percentage, multiply by 100.

Remember

  • Decimal → percentage: multiply by 100 (0.75 → 75%).
  • Percentage → decimal: divide by 100 (75% → 0.75).
