Chapter 6

Finding the area of squares and rectangles and working with angles on a straight line — with an interactive exercise.

We find the area of squares and rectangles, and work with angles.

Area of a rectangle = length × width, measured in square units (cm²). A rectangle 6 cm by 4 cm has area 6 × 4 = 24 cm². Angles on a straight line add up to 180°.

Remember

  • Area of a rectangle = length × width (in cm²).
  • Straight line = 180° · Right angle = 90°.
