The Moon seems to change shape over about a month. These shapes are the phases of the Moon.
The phases go new moon → crescent → half → full moon and back again. The Moon makes no light of its own — we see the part lit by the Sun. A constellation is a group of stars that makes a pattern in the sky.
Remember
- Moon phases repeat in about a month.
- The Moon reflects the Sun's light; a constellation is a star pattern.
