Chapter 4

Interaction Among Living Things

Food chains and food webs — how living things depend on one another for food, with an interactive exercise.

Living things depend on one another. A food chain shows who eats what.

It starts with a producer (a plant), then a consumer that eats it, then another consumer: for example grass → grasshopper → bird. The arrow means "is eaten by". Many food chains linked together make a food web.

Remember

  • Food chain starts with a producer (plant).
  • The arrow → means "is eaten by".
