Aims and Principles of the Rukun Negara

The five principles

The Rukun Negara has five principles that every Malaysian should follow:

  • Belief in God (Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan)
  • Loyalty to King and Country (Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara)
  • Supremacy of the Constitution (Keluhuran Perlembagaan)
  • The Rule of Law (Kedaulatan Undang-undang)
  • Courtesy and Morality (Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan)

The aims

The principles work toward important goals: to build unity among the people, to keep a democratic way of life, to create a just society where wealth is shared fairly, to respect our many cultures, and to build a progressive society that uses modern science and technology.

Five principles, one goal: to help all Malaysians live together in unity, fairness and peace.
