Duties of the Prime Minister

A very busy leader

The Prime Minister has many important duties. As the head of the government, he must make sure the country is safe, peaceful and growing well.

Main duties

  • Leading the government and chairing the Cabinet of ministers.
  • Planning national policies to develop the economy and improve people's lives.
  • Advising the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on important matters of state.
  • Representing Malaysia abroad at meetings such as ASEAN and the United Nations.
  • Keeping peace and unity among the many races and religions.
