Chapter 3

Relative Clauses

Use relative pronouns to add information.

Relative clauses

  • A relative clause gives more information about a noun.
  • Relative pronouns: who (people), which (things), that (people/things), whose (possession), where (place).
  • Example: The boy who won the prize is my friend.

Key idea

A relative clause adds information about a noun using who, which, that, whose or where.

Remember

Use 'who' for people and 'which' for things.
