- the – a specific or known thing: the teacher we met.
- No article for general plural/uncountable: Water is life.

- Wrong: I have a information. Right: I have information.

Use a/an for one general thing, 'the' for something specific, and no article for general uncountable nouns.
Remember
Uncountable nouns (water, information, advice) do not take 'a/an'.
