Regular and irregular verbs
- Regular: add -ed – play → played, walk → walked.
- Irregular: change form – go → went, eat → ate, see → saw.
Examples
- Yesterday, we visited the zoo.
- She went home early.
Key idea
The past tense shows finished actions: regular verbs add -ed; irregular verbs change form (go → went).
Remember
Learn irregular past forms by heart; they do not follow the -ed rule.
